Councillor Ryan visits an old friend….

We were privileged to have a visit from Councillor Ryan Rodrigues today who met up with John for a little bit of reminiscing, or as Ryan put it on his Instagram page….

This is John. 👋🏽

🤓 Or as I call him- Mr Lonergan.

🧑‍🏫 That’s because he was one of my (favourite) teachers at secondary school, right from year 7- year 13, here in Merton.

📝 Mr Lonergan was there for me through all the highs and lows of secondary school- never judged me, always encouraged me and cheered me on. Especially in music.

Almost five years ago, John’s young nephew, Jack, died suddenly in his prime. Jack was an avid musician - and so in his honour- John, and Jack’s dad set up the Jack Lonergan Foundation.

🎸 Today, @the_jacklonerganfoundation gives free music lessons to young children from the most deprived backgrounds in Mitcham.

Great to see you Ryan!
